Then fired in a raku manner which involves rapid firing and then while at 1880 degrees placed in a reduction container with flammable materials like newsprint and wood dust. It is sealed up as the flames consume the oxygen it becomes an environment that is without oxygen and under negative pressure. The color magic occurs and then the piece is allowed to cool and is finally polished to remove smoke revealing the colors.
