This listing is for a beautiful figurine in the shape of a chicken or bird, designed by Jorge Wilmot, Mexico's most illustrious ceramicist. This piece features Wilmot's characteristic blue and brown glazes and has a stylized flower motif on the bird's back.

Wilmot is credited with introducing high-fired ceramics to Mexico and, along with Ken Edwards, is responsible for pairing Mexican folk themes with modern motifs.

Great vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Like many of his figurines, this piece has some crazing. Wilmot's characteristic "W" mark is present near the base of the chicken. 3 1/2 inches tall.
