This listing is for a beautiful figurine in the shape of an armadillo, designed by Jorge Wilmot, Mexico's most illustrious ceramicist. This piece features Wilmot's characteristic blue and brown glazes and has a stylized flower motif on the armadillo's back. The armadillo has a ceramic ball inside it that makes it ring like a bell! Quite a rare find for the Wilmot collector.

Wilmot is credited with introducing high-fired ceramics to Mexico and, along with Ken Edwards, is responsible for pairing Mexican folk themes with modern motifs.

Great vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Like many of his figurines, this piece has some crazing. Wilmot's characteristic "W" mark is present on the base of the aramdillo. 6 inches long.
