I crack up every time I see that hysterical Portlandia episode!!! And though this bird and floral motif has its' genuine purpose, I had to pay homage to the sage creators of the Portlandia webisodes.

The English linen / cotton print fabric on the front of this cover speaks for itself...

Well, there is a bit of a back story if you are curious, please read on. I found this lovely bit at my favorite decorative fabric source in a local antique mall. The stall owner receives discontinued fabric samples from the design showrooms, sells them in her shop and gives all of the money (and I mean every bit as she pays the rent from her own generous pocket) to children's support efforts in Cambodia. This bit, because it was a large piece and quite expensive at retail pricing, had a grommet blasted through it just to the right of the bird. Thank goodness they did not hit the bird! I had to find a way to share this gorgeous piece on a pillow so I gently removed the brass grommet and patched in a bit of the fabric to fill in the hole and used an obvious stitch to accentuate the cosmetic alteration. Please look about the detail photos as you will find more misc. handwork to add a bit more texture thoughout. So this one really is a labor of love. I debated whether to list it here and honestly, I may take it back for myself??? Still thinking about that. If you want it, better grab it! ;-)

The pillow cover measures 22 1/2" 57cm) square with a 3/4" (2 cm) self flange and a bottom zipper closure.

If you have been looking about my shop you have noticed that many of my pillows are big. I make them that way because I want you to really, really use them. And I think while you are taking those precious moments to relax you should be really, really comfortable. I design my pillow covers to be a point of personality for your room but the end use should be functional and welcoming.

If you prefer the colors to stay, dry cleaning is recommended. If you prefer the colors to subtly fade with use, machine washing on gentle cycle in cold water is entirely acceptable. The hand of the fabric will soften further too. Air dry to prevent shrinkage.

PLEASE NOTE!!! This listing is for the pillow cover only.
