This is a most unusual teapot. The pattern almost reminds me of large pixels put together to make a design. In this case it is small squares forming flowers and leaves on the upper half of the teapot and an ivory colored base with an embossed pattern of an urn or covered dish with scrolled handles. You can also see flower vines with leaves forming a scroll design.

The markings are a sideways heart with the letter "K" and the word Japan. My research indicates this is an unknown mark possibly referring to Kyoto and made in the 1920's-40's. If I were to guess I would say this teapot comes from the earlier time rather than later.

The condition is very good. No damage, cracks or chips. There is crazing all over also indicating a glazing process that wasn't perfected in the early years. It doesn't affect the design and overall appearance in the least as you can see in the photos.

It's a lovely old piece that would certainly enhance any collection, but it can also stand alone and be a great conversation piece.

The teapot measures 5" H x 7" Wide from handle to spout.
