WALTER WELLMAN VINTAGE MERRY WIDOW WILES POSTCARD – ADVERTISING FOR D. MCRAE’S OF WARDSVILLE ONTARIO

This series of cards was sort of cheeky I think. The phrase on the front of this card reads as follows “Don’t fall in love with a Merry Widow’s sparkling eyes and then wake up to fine you’ve married the whole girl” Copyright 1908 by Walter Wellman this card is actually used with a preprinted advertisement on the back for D. McRae’s of Wardsville Ontario advertising their new glass tumblers. There is a cancel from Wardsville that is dated 1909. .

This card has been slightly tapered along the top line and there is a bend just above the title line – still a cute addition to your collection. Please have a look at the scans and feel free to ask any questions you might have. Thanks for stopping by TheOldBarnDoor. Click here to return to my store and search for more treasures.
