Arvin AM Tube Clock Radio iPod Ready Model 857T 1955

In your face RED! This fantastic dashboard style Arvin radio screams 50's! The great styling from the Mid-Century is fun and timeless. It is sure to be an eye stopper and the envy of anyone who sees it! There is nothing like listening to your favorite AM programming on a vintage tube radio. After you get tired of all their blabbering, you can plug you iPod into the pre-wired audio cord, flip a switch, and listen to your favorite tunes. This radio plays loud and clear.

The quality of this radio is impressive. The clock features a sweeping second hand and a Day Month feature which is very unusual for this time period. The dial scale light looks beautiful when the lights are out. The steering wheel knobs and clock knobs are made of solid metal...not cheap plastic! They are bright and shiny.

The electronics and finish has been lovingly restored. The radio is in excellent vintage condition. There is some slight discoloration of the gold on plastic clock lens and dial scale edges. This is very minimal and is to be expected on a radio of this vintage.

This would make a perfect unique Christmas gift for yourself or someone special!

Arvin Radios were made in Columbus Indiana. I wonder if the styling of this radio got its inspiration from the Studebaker which was also made in Indiana..

Approximate dimensions: 13" x 6" x 5"

iPod is not included.

Chassis Restoration:

To insure years of safe reliable operation…New polarized line cord, Paper and wax capacitors replaced with modern polyfilm caps; Filter capacitors replaced; RF and IF sections aligned per manufacturers specifications; volume control and tuner parts cleaned and lubricated; all tubes tested and good.

IPod Input:

This radio has an added feature – you can plug your iPod, or other mp3 player, directly into the rear mounted audio cord. Then just flick the switch to listen to radio programming or your iPod music.

The iPod interface is designed and installed in such a way to have absolute minimum impact on the vintage design of this radio set. The iPod adaptor is located inside the radio and includes an input selector switch; signal mixing; and isolation for absolute safety. From the adaptor, only a couple of wires are used to carry the iPod signal into the vintage tube audio amplifier.

You’ll love the experience of hearing your favorite music through a vintage tube amplifier!
