Lot of 8 Victorian Ladies Magazines - 1896 - 1901

An instant collection!! Nice lot of 7 late Victorian era ORIGINAL ladies magazines. Included in the lot are:

FOUR (4) issues of "THE LADIES WORLD", S.H. Moore & Co., Publishers, New York dated November, 1895; October, 1896; December, 1896; and November, 1897.

LADIES' WORLD was another of the low-priced, mass-market magazines of the era aimed at women and their interests. It was begun by S. H. Moore & Co. in New York in 1886 as a "mail-order magazine" published on cheap newsprint. Bought in 1912 by McClure Publications, publishers of McCLURE'S MAGAZINE, it became a full-fledged magazine with some full-color covers by famous artists. Original price of each issue - 5 cents. Each issue contains contents including: "What to Wear"; "Artistic Needlework"; "Our Boys and Girls"; "The Mother's Corner"; "Household Topics" plus much, much more.

Also THREE (3) issues of CONKEY'S HOME JOURNAL dated August, 1899; September, 1899; and February, 1901. Published by The American Musical Association, W.B. Conkey Company, Chicago. Boasting a circulation of over 100,000, CONKEY's was touted as a "profitable medium for articles that interest women and are used in the home." Each issues contains heavy musical content, incuding the sheet music for at least two new songs each month.

Magazines are in good vintage condition -- the LADIES WORLD magazines are all complete with no rips or tears All have written "To Rill from Ruth" on top cover. One issue of CONKEY'S has front and back cover separated; one has the back cover separated; one is complete. Original mailing labels are on the covers. All pages of CONKEY'S are complete and separated covers are included.
