It is her retreat, her private sanctuary. No one may enter without her permission, including her husband. The lady of the manor needs such a space, a room of her own, to contemplate her days and her responsibilities. Running a household as large as this is no mean feat, especially with her husband constantly off, whether for business, Parliament, or the wars. This roving is pink, lavender and magenta, with a touch of gray.

Wensleydale is a 30 to 35 micron wool, a long, luster fleece which has shine and halo when spun. People with sensitivity to wool may find this wool a bit too hairy, though it would make a nice shawl with a halo. These sheep are listed by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust of the U.K. as an “at risk.” Do Google images of them, they are great looking animals in their “Rasta” hairdos.

My rovings are dyed with fairly even distribution of colors. Photos are of each side of the coil, so you can see as much of the color as possible. These are the same rovings from which I spin my yarns, so I dye them for that. If you find one missing that hasn’t sold, likely, I’m spinning it. Except for specialty fibers, rovings are priced at $3 an ounce.
