Terra Cotta 24" x 17" x 7"

Architecture, nude brick male ceramic figure sculpture. Urban mans struggle in an industrialized society is realized with this wood fired male figure fragment from the series titled (Monumental Men) Jeff explores a surreal world of monuments to humanity, that test our conception of time. With the architectural figures, the brick armature is revealed, exposing the architecture and the craftsmen who build it. The breaking away starts to abstract the figure and a host of interesting dynamics come into play. Attention to beauty lost is heightened. The juxtaposition between hard and soft is like the layers of the human personality or character. Inner strength is stronger than flesh and bone. We look to the ancients for answers about the foundation of mankind, where we come from and just how far reaching the human form is threw out the universe.
