Short Story Long:
This rug is very big and packs a huge decorative punch. It is worn mostly through the central field and one end, with the worst of it being pictured in #5. That being said, however, the piece is entirely intact, and it still has a few years of life left in it if you choose to use it as a rug. It is a weird, narrow-for-its-length size that might just be perfect for your home, and it has a warm, well-loved patina. If you opt to use this rug as-is, please do so with a rug pad. This will help to extend the life of the short pile. To make this rug look like it is in better condition than it is, you can do a poor-man's repair job and just color in the exposed warps and wefts with some permanent markers. Shh!!!!
This rug is a gem for an upholsterer, designer, seamstress, etc. It is over 175 square feet of Persian goodness ready for your next project and there is zero guilt if you cut it up because it is not an expensive, pristine antique. You could cover ottomans and benches galores with this puppy. The possibilities are endless. PS - After much debate in the shop, we've decided that this rug is black and not navy blue, but again with the right markers, it could be whatever you want :)
Just as a warning for you wannabe rug dealers (haha, are there any of those?), this rug isn't cost effective to repair unless you yourself are a rug weaver with nothing else to do.
