Logwood Light
I dyed this sock yarn using Logwood to achieve this medium purple. Logwood purple is a rich and deep shade, and is also extremely colourfast. The colour varies gently through the skein so your project will have a nice hand-dyed look to it. The process of dyeing naturally takes time, but requires no nasty chemicals, and the colours are always soft on the eye. Typically plant-dyeing takes about 3-4 days, starting with scouring (cleaning), mordanting twice(preparing the fibre to help it accept the dye better) with natural mordants like oak tannin, mayrobalan, pomegranate, and alum. Then finally a 'tea' is made with the plant used for dyeing, and the yarn is added for a day or two.

The base yarn is Crystal Palace Panda Cotton, which is most excellent for socks, as well as other projects like baby and childrens clothing, or maybe something bigger, like a summer top. Personally, I never went for Panda Cotton in stores because the balls were so tiny, they didn't seem worth it, so here you are, a nice big ball, big enough for nice long socks!
