Sleek and sexy, this Vintage 1930's Black Silk Velvet Dress with it's Burnout Art Deco Design in the Batwing sleeves and bodice will make for a riveting entrance where ever you go this season. The gown has a bit of Goth daring ensconced in Victorian drama and 30's glamour, so no need to pin yourself down to one vintage era with this one! A great choice for the ultimately chic Halloween or Beltane celebration dress as well!

The daringly sexy bodice has a ruffled jewel neckline in the front which flows down in the back to the sides of a low-cut square ruched placket with a 3 snap opening on the left side. The Art Deco style burnout in the front of the bodice has a sheer black silk chiffon pattern which forms a plunging neckline that is in contrast to the 'demure' presence of the dress at first glance. There is one 1/32" pinhole in the left bodice chiffon, where I would guess a brooch was placed.

The soft shoulder sleeves have an amazing bat-wing design, a take-off on a popular 30's dolman sleeve design, that is a unique and collectible aspect of this dress. The burn out design ends in a square cut upper sleeve that ends at the elbow and moves into an 11" tapered cuff with 7 self fabric, hand-covered buttons and a 2 snap closure. There is some shattering of the chiffon on the underside of the left sleeve. The bodice ends at the natural waist has belt loops but no belt. A satin ribbon would look great as a belt or the dress looks fabulous as a sheath, with no belt.

The skirt is bias cut and lower calf length, with a flare at the bottom and asymmetrical hem, lower in the back, dating it from the early to mid 30's. The skirt has one tiny 1/4" patch on the back where the velvet has worn off and a repaired 1" tear, neither are noticeable because of the folds in the skirt. This evening gown is a glamorous piece of art and the luminous lady who wears it will become one herself! A fascinating collectable dress. (va0181) Dry-Cleaned.
