Gorgeous Mazer choker necklace and earring set features baguette rhinestones accented by dangling teardrops. Bright rhodium plating sets off the clear Swarovski rhinestones that Mazer was known to have used in its creations. This set was made in the period from 1946 to 1951, when the marks used were “Mazer Bros.” and “Mazer.” Known for its high quality jewelry selling in the mid-range, Mazer is still prized today for its pioneering construction techniques as well as its superb designs. This set has heavy rhodium plating as well as a screw fastener uniting its complex components. Only the best costume jewelry uses this expensive construction method. The centerpiece is rigid with the teardrop dangles providing interest and movement. It lays perfectly on the neckline as a consequence of this elaborate construction.

The design is Late Art Deco with its use of the dimensional fixed lariat, as well as the abundance of baguettes accented with raised square cut rhinestones. The clip earrings compliment the necklace using the same “spillover” dangles, but with mostly trapezoid shaped stones used to create a ¾ circle. The necklace fastens with a fancy embellished foldover clasp uniting two end stirrups, a signature of Mazer designs. The set is in very good or better vintage condition with a few darkened stones (a couple on the earrings, and a few at the clasp), but its appearance overall is dazzling. The rhodium plating has some light spotting (on the reverse of the necklace). The necklace is marked “MAZER BROS.” on the clasp, while the earrings are marked “MAZER.” This set would be stunning for a wedding or other special occasions.

ABOUT MAZER: Located in NYC, Mazer Brothers began operation in the 1920’s, with the talented Marcel Boucher as its chief designer until the 1930’s, when he left to operate his own company. The brothers split up in the mid-1940’s, with Joseph starting Jomaz, and Louis continuing on with Mazer Bros. until 1951. Mazer jewelry continued being made until they went out of business in the late 1970’s.

This set will be presented in two tarnish resistant pouches and each gift boxed.

SIZE: For a delicately sized neck. Necklace = 13-1/2” with the centerpiece feature 1-1/2”W x 1-3/4”L. Earrings = 1-1/2”L x 5/8”W
