Mid century, modernist, large, graceful, boat-shaped or oblong platter - with distinctive, Mayan-inspired, embossed symbols around the rim. The satin matte glaze is a thin white color over the red Sapulpa clay, allowing a subtle hint of the rust color to show through. It is in excellent, vintage condition, no chips or cracks or crazing. Bottom says, FRANKOMA 7QS. It is part of the Mayan-Aztec line of dinnerware - begun in 1942, but this large platter was not made early on. The color is called White Sand and was first introduced in 1953. Very useful size, beautiful form coupled with great functionality. Any colorful food looks so nice on white...14" long, 8.5" wide, 1.25" high

Note: contact me if you are interested in more than one platter, I have several of them, let's negotiate...
