Description

Note: The wavy lines as seen on some of the photos are not there, just my (lack of) amazing photography skills. (: Colors are much brighter than they appear.
Bold graphics on this pair of cherish Christmas cards from the 1940s. Another pairing that coordinate well together. Well cared for. Clean and neat and the large images show well from a distance.
Love the matte paper of old Christmas cards. No shine here except for the occasional foil or glitter bling. Old cards make great stocking stuffer for vintage lovers! Another pair of these great old bell cards from the 1940s, classic old wonderful paper in a french fold. Bell images sitting around make me happy at Christmas! This listing is for a pair of cards that are used but in lovely condition to be over 60 + years old. There's something about the era of 1940s paper, whether it be cards, gift wrap, or seals, it is SO 1940s! If you look enough you will learn to recognize it. I can't get enough of it. Even if many of the cards in this lot I acquired were not dated, I would still know they were 1940s.
Who doesn't love bells at Christmas? I have a wonderful array from an old bell collector's stash from the 1940s that I will be listing. Some will be listed separately but I have also compiled some lovely collections that coordinate well together to save you on searching and shipping. (:
Remember with old used cards, you can write "and" and add your name beside the old signature for a touch of whimsy or erase if it was signed in pencil.
These cards are both signed neatly in ink. Colors are very bright and vivid. Each features a single bell hanging from pine branches as if on a Christmas tree. Both cards measure 4" by 5".
I am amazed at the wonderful old papers of many of these cards, matte with personalities all of their own. Such treasures! No wonder they were kept. Many of the cards from the 1940s incorporated blue hues into them, which really pairs well with snow scenes!
This card is a french fold, makes it hardier, and that is why so many of these really old cards look better than later ones. (Folded in half then in half again so front and back have 2 pages.) Many can often stand on their own due to the added thickness the doubling affords.
These nostalgic cards are great for display or to include with a basket of baked goods or bag of Christmas candies. Make a nice touch to transport you to a simpler time! I love to scatter down the center of a table for a Christmas dinner, tuck them in mirrors, put them beside a guest bed, etc. I have an old red basket my beloved granny used to keep her cards in. I put some of my fav old cards in it every year for others to thumb thru as they visit.
All are used with no envelopes. As always from SeaSeaRider, smoke free. MANY vintage cards and much vintage Christmas decor in shop. Adding more bells also...
SPECIAL NOTE:
Last Christmas I made a wonderful Christmas Dept/General store vignette at my antique desk. I used vintage seals, cards, ribbons, gift wrap, candles, a dept store santa, etc to set up a display that made you feel you were back in time. It brought a nostalgia and comfort to my den. The glow of candle light at night made it even more cosy and charming. You could do this on a table, desk, shelf, a chair in a corner, etc. In SeaSeaRider, I have assembled some items that would work well for this. Search my shop for "general store". Recently listed items will be tagged with this but you also need to look in my vintage sections of Christmas Decor & Christmas Cards to see more choices. I will do my best to combine shipping on any multiple purchases. Convo for rate or if you don't want to wait, check out and know I will do my best to refund thru Paypal. I am unable to put that automatically on my shipping rates since I carry such a wide range of items in my shop.
SeaSeaRider specializes in seashell/beach/nautical vintage and original art and home decor but also a variety of "other" inspired themes. As a sampling, I have old coral, shells, sea fans, seashell bookplates that make unique affordable art, ship themed items, books, bird & botanical bookplate prints, old wooden letterpress, sea=themed original & vintage jewelry, my handmade sea signs called "Sea Shingles", vintage Christmas & Valentines, etc.
Come on over for a mini vacation! Much to inspire you to decorate, create, or gifts for the hard to buy for vintage and/or ocean lover!
