Frequently asked questions about BreAlyThreads

Many people ask if a 3-ply color can be made into a 4-ply color (and vice versa). The answer is: sort of...
The cotton used in the 2-ply and 3-ply Gradients is different than the cotton used in the 4-ply Gradients, so the colors are also different. I can try to make a similar 4-ply colorway to a 3-ply colorway I have offered, but it will not be exact.
The other option is to make a 4-ply using 3-ply colors. This makes almost a heavy fingering or sport weight yarn. Similarly, making a 3-ply out of 4-ply colors will be more of a lace/light fingering weight. There is a cost difference when doing this, and I can work with you to let you know what the price will be before we move forward with your custom order.
For your finished piece, I recommend a light soaking in a gentle detergent or soak made especially for delicate items. Items can be blocked.
As with any fiber, it is important to test if you are concerned with the color bleeding after you make your item. Test a small swatch and see how it reacts.
Red and darker colors are always at risk for bleeding, so I encourage you to test any fiber I sell if this is a concern.
4-PLY COLOR AVAILABILITY: These will vary and once a color is gone, it can not be reordered. It is especially important to order enough of a 4-ply colorway if you have a project in mind. You can order solids of the colors used in a color way to extend the solid portions if you would like. Even common colors like black that can be reordered, may differ, depending on the manufacturer. There is not a vendor that I have found that offers a consistent inventory of colors in the weight used for the 4-ply Gradient colorways.
2-PLY & 3-PLY COLOR AVAILABILITY: 2-ply and 3-ply gradient colors can be duplicated. I am able to reorder the colors I have available, unless they are discontinued by the manufacturer.
