This is a Hood (also sometimes known as a cowl / hat/ capelet) Great for SCA Garb from 6-14th Centuries. It is also great for LARP and as a Halloween costume as well! Similar style to the Men of Rohan in Lord of the rings, and Robin Hood.
The liripipe (or tail on the hood) is shorter- in the earlier period style.
I made it in a nice bright fire-engine red linen, with a facing of black cotton brocade with tiny gold fleur-de-lis embroidered on it, each with a red dot in the center. The band of brocade is bordered with a braided band of solid black woven trim.

I prewash and dry my fabric, so it should not shrink, though I do always suggest hand washing (or on delicate) and line drying.
My Garb is made to last and we worn as clothing, not just a costume. It is professionally serged on all interior seams.

If you are in the SCA, I am Maitresse Aenor D'Anjou, OL, with 12th and 13th C. costuming as my area of expertise. (From Angevin Treasures) So you can trust my stuff. And its Purty! I've been making garb in the SCA for about 20 years.

This hood matches both red linen tunics in my shop. Please look here for the tunics:
