This vibrantly-colored pink hand-knitted lace shawl was designed by me for this coming October's Breast Cancer Awareness month. As an almost 5 year survivor of breast cancer myself, I owe my confinued life to advances that have been made in breast cancer treatment, and am very grateful. It seems that everywhere I turn though, I am always hearing about newly diagnosed friends, loved ones, family members, and acquaintances. This shawl would make a great gift for a breast cancer patient or survivor. I am going to be posting the pattern soon so that fellow knitters can make their own for a loved one. It is made out of fine 100% pima cotton yarn, and feels great against the skin. I designed it with a zig-zag lace to apear as many pink ribbons (breast cancer patients) all over the body of the shawl. It is designed in a traditional triangular shape, and is edged in pink swirls that flow naturally from the "body" of ribbons. It can be machine washed, delicate cycle separately, then pinned and blocked flat back to shape with rust-proof t-pins and left to air dry 24 hours.
