A re-bound copy of this vintage book published by Oldbourne Press, London. By Andre Salmon, translated to English by Paul Coalcicchi. An interesting and informative read, with lovely Rousseau art prints throughout; for its size, this is a treasure of an art book! There's no copyright date inside, but it's likely from the 1960's or 1970's.
Re-bound in an archival '3-piece case' style with red goatskin cover, including a leather onlay design from one of Rousseau's paintings and gold/silver tooling on the front cover. Blue and white decorative paper lines the inside of the full red cover, in keeping with the colors of the French flag. Hand-wrapped silk endbands in red & blue finish it all off in durable and traditional style.
88 pages, book measures 14 x 18.5 x 1.5 cm, 5 1/2 x 7 1/4 x 5/8 inches
