Bay leaves have been burned to relieve stress and cleanse spaces since ancient times. Bay leaves are also a staple in the witch’s apothecary for manifesting, spells and wish making rituals.

Like the more familiar bay laurel leaves, these Indian bay leaves, aka Tej Patta, are in the family Lauraceae, but are bigger and less brittle, so I find them perfect for writing spells and intentions on. In metaphysical tradition, they carry properties of good fortune, purification, protection and calming among other benefits.

You can also use them in cooking, but they are a bit spicier than bay laurel and have those notes of cinnamon that are so delicious in South Asian cuisine, as you might guess from their Latin name, Cinnamomum Tamala.

These packages were put together during the new moon, a time of new beginnings and fresh starts. Each package contains a mix of sizes as seen in the photos (from 2" (5cm) to about 6" (15 cm).

Small size packages will contain between 10-15 leaves, depending on size. Large packages will contain 20-30 leaves.

I am so impressed with these leaves. They are far from the type you would buy in a supermarket just in case you're wondering. They're huge and I like the variation in sizes that Sheri sent. I put a toonie beside for scale so you all can see how big they are. 5 stars! I'll be ordering these again!
