Glorious vintage 1970s dress by Holly’s Harp.

✧ generous ruffle across the shoulders
✧ slightly dipped backline
✧ fastens up the side with a covered zipper

A bit about the designer:

Los Angeles based fashion designer Holly Harp began her career in the late 1960s. Her early designs were known for being wild and fantastical, and she incorporated many vintage textiles, feathers, and fringe into her custom pieces. Within a few years her designs had taken a more sophisticated turn, and she began designing “slinky, overtly sexy dresses and separates that referenced the glamour of Old Hollywood.” In her own words, what she had moved onto creating were “fantasy oriented...mood clothes,” and the designs frequently took their inspiration from 1930s evening wear. This dress is a perfect example of such a piece, and the use of slinky bias cut fabric and the luxury of the draped ruffle and lowered backline do indeed call to mind elements of classic 1930s evening gowns.

This dress is utterly gorgeous and deceptively understated; it may appear simple on the hanger and in the photographs, but the way this beauty flows over the body and ripples in the air as you move and dance is nothing short of miraculous. I came so close to keeping this dress all for myself, but alas, I cannot keep every brilliant wonder that comes my way, and so on to some very lucky lady it goes. This dress would look magnificent with pin thin heels and a little beaded evening bag, or even with a pair of lace up leather thongs for a more bohemian feel, and would be perfect to wear to such a wide variety of special events. A deeply, madly flattering dress that will have you wondering how you ever lived without!

This beautiful designer dress was made over 30 years ago and is in phenomenal condition -- it is truly a treasure and very rare!!
