As dull as house chores can be, they still can be inspiring for those who can see beauty in simple things. I noticed the intricate patterns of shadows on the folding door, floor tiles, and wallpaper ornaments in the laundry room. I tried to capture in a sketch the abstract quality of their geometric rhythm, and then turned it to a linocut.

MONDAY AFTERNOON. LAUNDRY is an original limited edition (only 28 were printed) color linocut. Designed, cut, and printed by me, Natalia Moroz. Titled, numbered and signed in pencil. Dated 2005.

This multicolored print was made with the use of a single block in "reduction" technique. Through a series of progressive cuttings, inkings, and printings, the image slowly emerges while the actual block is destroyed. A reduction print can therefore never be reprinted.

The image area is about 8"x12" and the paper size is 11"x15". Printed on beautiful printmaking paper (Rising Stonehenge, acid-free) with oil based printing ink - all materials are permanent and archival. Directly from my studio, the print is in mint condition.

Two years later, I did another linocut "Room with No View". Together, the linocuts make a small series I named "Two rooms". This listing is for "MONDAY AFTERNOON. LAUNDRY" linocut only.
