This is Billy. Billy is a one of a kind ipod/iphone docking station built from a vintage 1950's Motorola 395 Volumatic car radio. Billy is awesome.

We've done a similar Motorola before, so we wanted to try something different with Billy. To start, we opened it up and removed all the original electronics. Once he was emptied out, we installed a new 15 watt amplifier that drives a Pyle 5.25" 3 way speaker. The sound is great, plenty for the average room. To keep Billy looking slick, we installed the speaker in the down firing position. To get him to stand up, we added a chrome kickstand.

Cosmetically, we went with a Fiery Orange lacquer. All the original chrome was hand polished. The chrome bezel shows some pitting, as we'd expect from 60 year old chrome, but very minor. In place of the original controls, we've installed a new volume control topped with a modern billet volume knob. In the right position, a small red LED light acts as a power indicator. For added flair, amber LED's have been installed behind the glass station indicator that glow when the speaker is turned on. Power for the speaker is turned on/off with a retro toggle switch on the left side.

On top, we installed a universal docking tray that fits all ipod classics, ipod nanos and iphones through the 4s. Your device charges whether the speaker is turned on or not. A single standard 110v chord exits the back and powers the whole unit.

So Billy is fired up and ready to boogie. Don't let this guy get away.
