Description

A beautiful addition to any birth kit! A simple finger labyrinth with an in-utero babe sketched into the middle to help a mother in labor as a focal point. With browns and blues, the calming colors are lovely enough to be used as a decorative element as well, if the mother doesn't feel the need to work the labyrinth.

Can also be used by the midwife, doula, or nurse themselves as a relaxation technique!

About 7 inches in diameter, or 17 1/2 centimeters, the labyrinth comes glazed on both sides so that it is water-immersible. Made one at a time, no two are exactly alike, though they will be close to the ones pictured.

I have new colors available! The third picture shows the details of each color as accurately as I can capture, though each are more beautiful in person. Clockwise starting from the top left is: Sienna Speckle which has a nice deep burnt umber color with darker speckles. Sepia which is sort of a peach color and has shades of gentle blue throughout. Temmoku, which is a dark brown with lighter speckles. Ironstone, which is grey-ish. Blue Midnight, which has deeper shades of blue. Blue Rutile, which has beautiful shades of brown and light blue. Indigo Blue, which is a lighter, brighter blue. And Seaweed, which has an iridescent sort of green. I have two more colors that you can see in the last photo - Arctic Blue, which is a baby-blue, and Smokey Merlot, which is sort of a plum color with lighter purple hues. Let me know which color you want in the "note to seller" section when checking out.

Please allow 1-2 weeks for making, firing, and glazing the piece.

So beautiful and unique, I ordered 2 extra to give as gifts!!! I read a couple books by Pam England that use the labyrinth as a metaphor for childbirth (you don't know what twists and turns your labor journey will take, or how long it will take, but you just have to keep going and eventually you get to your baby). She suggests using a finger labyrinth to help achieve meditative state during labor. I used mine some during labor, especially it helped to keep me very calm during the car ride to the hospital (I arrived in a much calmer/more comfortable state than either of my previous labors). I just cocooned myself with pillows, listened to relaxation tracks, closed my eyes and traced this labyrinth over and over. Highly recommend :)

This was the absolute PERFECT gift for one of my best friends (who happens to be a doula as well as a lactation consultant) She is planning to have a water birth in her home and the birthing workshop that she did (which I took part in as well when I had my daughter) discusses in great length the symbolism that the labyrinth has on the road to birth as well as motherhood. Not only was this the perfect gift but when I reached out to the shop to express that I really needed the gift quickly, they were accommodating, pleasant, and delivered a perfect product. I will be purchasing another of these soon and it is a pleasure to get this beautiful gifts out into the world!

Payments

Secure options
  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
I accept payments up front for custom orders. At the time of completion, if you are not happy with the sculpture or piece, we can either negotiate another piece, or I will offer you a partial refund. If a piece is broken in the firing process, but you needed it by a certain dead-line, I can offer a full refund. If you change your mind after requesting a custom piece, I will only offer a partial refund due to the labor costs.

Returns & exchanges

I will offer refunds in the case of receiving broken items or if the item is grossly different than what you thought I had described. I would prefer, however, to deliver a high quality item to you, and if possible I will offer a replacement or other compensation over a refund.

Shipping policies

I usually ship priority mail in the US, except for the smaller items like pendants, which are sent first class. International orders are shipped first class, as well, though if you would like to pay more for priority I can certainly do so. Any shipping option is available if you are willing to pay up front - just let me know!

I also combine shipping with multiple orders, though now that I switched to calculated shipping, it won't show up when you order. I WILL combine shipping and give you a refund once I ship and know the actual cost at that point. I can also set up a custom listing if you want with an estimated combined shipping cost, and then refund from there if necessary.

Additional policies

For wholesale, I request that you order at least 10 or more items, at 60% of their regular cost.
