"It was almost impossible for a couple to do anything without rumour leaving their shoulders like a flock of messenger pigeons." - Michael Ondaatje (Running in the Family)

This necklace is for the woman who doesn't like to be ordinary. The colors are fairly ordinary, to be sure. Gray and orange-red get me through the day. But the raw edged Agate stones in the center are extremely unusual. Their coloring is beautiful... a kind of ombre gray all in themselves, some of them quite dark, and others fading into pale. They make a statement in their structure and shape, and I love the effect. I've spaced the raw edged Agate with 6mm faceted Carnelian, and then used larger Carnelian and gray agate to move up the sides. I've placed them in a symmetrical pattern that looks quite beautiful on. As is usual with Agate, the stones themselves have a lovely sheen and are somewhat translucent. I've used a rectangular sterling silver hook clasp, which is unusual for me. It seemed to suit the architectural feel of the piece. Looks wonderful with a blouse or casual sweater. Enjoy!

Length: 19 inches
Properties: Carnelian aids in understanding the inner self and strengthens concentration. It helps one to overcome the fear of public speaking, increases the self worth, and is a fast acting stone to succeed in one's career. Carnelian is said to assist in stimulating creativity. It seems to have a clearing effect, dispelling negative energies as it replaces them with positive ones.

Please see my section on Policies for care of gemstone jewelry. I recommend you store your new piece flat, and without narrow bends...especially this one as it wants to bend in the center.

It’s a good idea to check the length of the necklace by taking a piece of string the length of piece, and hanging it around your neck. Keep in mind chunkier stones take up space, and pictures on a hanger have very little girth.
