Osage orange is really a stunning wood of various shades of light and dark orange running through it. I enjoy working with this wood because it is a very hard and tightly grained, and because of this it polishes beautifully. In time the color may turn to a golden brown, but this can be delayed and possibly prevented, by keeping it out of the direct sun.

My finishing process first involves sanding each piece through 600 grit paper and then further polishing and sanding with Micro-mesh pads through 12000 grit. I then apply a friction polish to achieve a lustrous, glassy finish. On this piece I used a high-grade, stainless steel tear-dropped shaped stopper with a silicone rubber seal that's designed to seal out all outside air. It will even hold a seal when the bottle is on its side. This wine stopper would make a handsome one-of-a-kind gift for a friend, or simply a true treasure for yourself!

This stopper will be mailed in a bubble wrap sleeve inside a sturdy box for its protection.
