1920s Atlas Holding Up World Pencil Sharpener - Made in Germany

This is a classic pencil sharpener that dates back to 1918 or so and is marked on the bottom Germany!

This little guy stands approximately 2.75 inches tall and the globe is approximately 1.75 wide. The Atlas is in a gold toned metal and the globe is done in blue oceans with white, green and yellow land masses. The globe comes apart easily to empty the shavings!!

The condition of this is excellent for it's age! The Atlas body is very detailed and the gold has a great patina!! The body of Atlas does shows minimal wear in the form of scattered light chips to the finish! The globe itself is in extremely good condition with very light wear and no oxidation! The colors are bright and vivid!! I believe that this has been kept as a display object and was used rarely as a sharpener as the inside is immaculate and clean! I have never seen one in such nice condition!

I dated this due to the fact the the Russian Empire and the Chinese Empire are both shown and the both dissolved around 1917 or 1918.

These sharpeners are becoming very scarce and very desirable to all types of collectors, ie: tin litho, pencil sharpeners, world globe collectors to name a few!!

This is a must have for the serious collector or a must have for the beginner at this price!!

As always, ENJOY!!!
