This is such a handsome antique door knocker. It is oval and made of copper and has beautiful, uniform patina. Solid! 1.5 pounds. 6 inches tall and 4 inches wide. Mounted, it would protrude, in front, just over 1 inch in total from a door's surface. Without the peephole, the knocker's screw-holes measure or protrude 4/10 of an inch on the back. The peephole protrudes about 4/5 inch from the back side. The peephole can be removed simply by unscrewing; you'd then have a circular space in the copper and that looks fine but the peephole is so neat and it functions very well, letting you know who's waiting outside on the porch.
Age-appropriate wear to the metal--minor dings and scratches. No corrosion. No maker's mark. 2 screw holes; screws not provided. Hangs vertically. The knocker is secure and knocks with a satisfyingly audible BANG. Quite old, probably at least 1900. (The peephole is newer and is likely a replacement.)
Excellent and substantial, made to last through the years.
