A rare find, a simple and perfectly beautiful Edwardian antique locket, double side convex glass with a 9ct. gold rim or bezel, originally called a 'photo pendant'.

Slim in profile - see photograph 3 - and lovely to handle, the locket has a little hinged latch at the top that allows the frame to be removed and a photograph or memento inserted between the glass cover. In photo 1 I've inserted some antique lace and a few lavender buds - there is a cavity between the glass sides that is approximately 1.5mm.

Made in the Edwardian era c. 1904 (an exciting find, please see notes below) and has the warm glow of old gold. Hallmarked on the opening clasp but too tiny to read with a loupe.

Size: 1.2 inches or 30mm diameter, 37 including the top ring. The frame is just over 2mm thick.
Weight: 4.6gms
Condition: Very, very good with no visible scratching to the glass. Nice gentle patina around the clasp. The clasp is tight and bezel holds the glass firmly. No signs of wear.
Age: 108 years

Notes: an interesting story with this locket...
Collector that I am, I have a 1904 wholesale catalogue from English jewelers 'Robert Pringle & Sons of London'. Amazingly, I found that this locket is pictured for sale and was made in both 9ct. and 15ct. gold. I'm unsure as to which carat this locket - though I've erred on the side of caution and said 9ct., it does have the warmer gold color of 15ct. It was originally sold as a 'Photo Pendant'.

This is a rare and lovely find. Please note, the chain in photo 5 is not included.
