Excellent vintage skirt, circa 1950s. A well-made (and likely a homemade) garment constructed of soft, crisp, medium-weight cotton. Wonderful print: geometric, with squares and roman numerals in black and sienna brown, and every #3 square highlighted in yellow. Classic 1950s silhouette, with high, fitted, banded waistline and loads of pintucks for a full, feminine skirt. Fastens with a quality metal zipper and two plastic buttons, and has a 2" deep hand-tacked hem. Flattering, autumnal, and somewhat collegiate/bookish.

Measurements, taken lying flat and doubled where appropriate, are approximately:

Waist: 26.5"
Hip: full
Length: 26"

The skirt is in very good condition for its age, showing only light evidence of wear throughout. On the waistband, there is an area of tiny stitch holes from where the skirt was apparently taken in and then let out again, which is difficult to notice and would be virtually invisible when worn. The skirt has been cleaned (gentle/cold/unscented soap/hung to dry) and is ready to wear.
