This dainty cottage blue 3d flower blooms from an antique barbed wire flower stem. Accent your favorite vase or table and add a french country touch to your homes’ room décor. Because these flowers are not big, it makes them perfect for a small space like a covered porch, bedroom, bathroom or office desk.

The flowers stem is a Joseph Glidden simple double-strand wire. Glidden's invention made barbed wire more effective not only because he described a method for locking the barbs in place, but also because he developed the machinery to mass-produce the wire. His U.S. patent was issued November 24, 1874.

The wire is difficult to work with not only because of the double-wire but in finding wire that does not break apart from age.

Approx Size of Bloom: 1 3/4” x 3/4”
Available: 1 Flower
Lengths (measure from top of flower): 10"
Materials: 50+ year old barn tin from Alabama, Antique barbed wire from Tennessee, rusted wire, paint and enamel (to help preserve the flower and prevent rust transfer).

Because each piece is handmade with storied materials, they are one-of-a-kind and will vary. All of the pieces in my store are original designs and artwork - copyrights 1998-2012 Merritt Hyde.
