This brooch predates the eagle stamp. Hand crafted, unknown Taxco silversmith. very early 980 silver pin from Taxco, Mexico, circa 1935. 980 silver is purer than sterling silver and was used by Hector Aguilar, William Spratling and others during the early years of silver production in Taxco. This is a large pin, squarel in shape, and features a carved Mexican Jade (agate) stone, prong set, Aztec face.. The pin is further embellished with silver bead balls and wire work. The pin closes on the back with an old style C clasp.
