...............THANK YOU!.............

Sequanna is an ancient Celtic Goddess who was worshipped in the area now known as France and patron saint of the River Seine. People traveled to honor her, asking for her life giving magic by praying and sometimes offered carvings representing whatever part of their body that they wished to be healed. These small tokens have been found in springs and at the headwaters of the Seine. She was well loved by all the Celtic tribes. There are even Native American legends that speak of the green eyed healers from across the sea in ancient times and some of the older medicine societies have names with similar phonetic sounds to the word Sequanna.

When I sculpted this goddess face, I was thinking of the sweet, cleansing energy of water and of all those pilgrims who asked for Sequanna’s blessings so long ago. This pocket planter is a thank you to those energies and I’ve surrounded her face with lacey designs and a border of octopus suckers which symbolize the number 8, bringing regeneration and prosperity to you and your surroundings.

Formed from a red brick colored earthenware clay, the planter is very sturdy, weighing over 2 1/4 pounds. It’s 7" wide by 11 1/2” tall and has Italian silver metal buttons secured front and back with galvanized wire. A tiny cork in it’s drain hole allows any excess water to be drained at a sink. Completely weatherproof, it could also decorate a porch or patio space, but should be brought indoors for the winter if you live in an area that has freezing temperatures.

Blessings and good health to you! May the curative powers of Sequanna be with you always.
