From my South Dakota Trade Bead collection, this is a set of seven hollow blown beads. One hollow blown cylinder, two hollow blown ball beads with button ends, and two hollow blown ball beads.

The cylinder bead measures about 23mm by 34mm in diameter, each ball bead with button ends measures about 23mm in diameter, and each ball bead measures about 19mm in diameter.

South Dakota Trade Beads are one of fifty-five state and territory named design groups
being developed for the American Trade Bead Permanent Collection, an encyclopedic
like study of glass beadmaking technique slated for completion in July of 2035.

South Dakota Trade Beads are a study of coldworked surface patterns on patterned materials. After the flameworking was completed, the item's surface was sandblasted and oiled to give it a pleasingly tactile, natural satin finish.

My technique: divide glass beadmaking into fifty-five individual studies and by keeping
a small percentage of that work over a thirty year period, build a monument to the craft.

My doctoral dissertation to the title Glass Beadmaker, the American Trade Bead Permanent Collection, grows daily and currently holds nearly three thousand objects.

Purchase of this item is an investment into the life of a unique individual attempting to
advance in a unique way thousands of years of glass bead history.
