This lustrous white roving is from our flock of rare breed English Leicester Longwool. It is a very shiny, white wool that is similar to Cotswold or Lincoln.
Leicester Longwool is very slippery, it has a shine similar to mohair.
Longwool will felt, but it is known to be stubborn. It spins into a smooth, very tough yarn that you can not break with your hands. It is a great fiber for wool rugs, it is very durable and wears very well under heavy use.
Not for next to the skin, but it has wonderful texture for blending.
This breed was almost lost to the world due to heavy crossbreeding. We are excited to be a part of the LLSBA, who is working hard to conserve them for generations to come.
This wool is very clean, you only see occasional VM bits, but my skirting is pretty heavy, so you wont' see much.
I am happy to combine shipping! Thank EWE for visiting the frontier!
