- Diamond Flower Cluster Engagement Ring
- c. 1889
- 18k yellow gold band; platinum head; .23 carats single-cut diamonds
- Made in England

A charming, beautifully executed Edwardian flower cluster ring. 8 sparkling diamonds frame a larger center stone, enchantingly set in a floral bezel. With a heavyweight 18 karat gold band and a luminous platinum head, this piece uses only the finest materials to create a ring of unusual substance.

What makes this particular ring so special is the supreme elegance of its setting; with an open-work head featuring tiny scrolls, it recalls the structural simplicity of the Eiffel Tower, which was built just 2 years before the ring itself was made. The floral bezel of the center stone is something we've never come across in another ring--a unique design invention--and the weight of the band gives it a wonderful heft and utility not often found in things so thoughtfully designed and so wonderfully old.

In addition to its English hallmark denoting its provenance, the ring is engraved with a date: 8-4-89, likely the date it was given to its first recipient. An exquisite piece with a lovely history.

Excellent. No noted flaws other than very mild wear commensurate with age.
