Cat Bed Mat Wool Fleece Felted Rug - Jake

This pet mat was made with wool fleece and roving using a wet felting process. The fleece was shorn from a Jacob sheep and worked directly into a rug. This fleece is light, soft, and springy. There is some remaining vegetable matter from the farm, which adds to the organic feel of this rug. You might find a few pieces of grass and flowers as you run your fingers through the wool, which is addictive. I can't keep my fingers out of it. So lush and soft. You might even want to keep this rug for yourself, but I can't help thinking of the great dreams the cats must have while they are sleeping on a sheepy cloud of fleece.
This fleece rug would look great on the couch, foot of the bed, or where ever your cat enjoys lounging. It would also work nicely in the bottom of a basket. I like to take something from home when we visit the vet, and this rug lines a pet carrier perfectly.

I am very proud to say that the pet rugs made with raw fleeces have all been procured from American small farms. These are generally family run farms that have dedicated their lives to ancient traditions of nurturing and raising sheep and other farm animals as their life's passion. Many are considered rare breeds that are making a comeback in the American culture. There is absolute raw beauty in these fleeces. Once you have touched and sensed these animal's gift of fleece you will be forever changed.
And did I mention, cats love wool. I am beginning to believe it is instinctual.

Just to be clear, fleece is shaved from the back of the sheep. No harm to the animal.

Measures:
27 inches x 15 inches

Care:
Hand wash in cold water. These fit nicely into a standard bathtub. Fill with cold water and let it have a leisurely soak. Massage the fibers, and if needed use shampoo to clean. Drain tub, fold rug and press out water. Run through the spin cycle of your washing machine. Dry flat. Brush with a clean nylon bristle scrub brush.

*Generally referred to as an unimproved or heirloom breed (one that has survived with little human selection), the Jacob is descended from an ancient Old World breed of sheep, although its exact origins remain unclear.
Jacobs may have from two to six horns, but most commonly have four. They are typically black and white, with the black often fading to brown at the tips.
