Mercer Mayer is credited with being one of the pioneers of wordless picture books, and this book is nothing short of genius. Our diminutive green pal takes a day away from his buddies boy and dog. During his short bit of freedom, he manages to eat a bee, crash a picnic, steal a child's toy boat, knock over a baby carriage, get caught by a cat and be rescued. Marvelously fun stuff made even better by the self-created narration wee readers use for accompanyment.

This copy is a 1973 ex-library hardcover in good vintage condition. The pages are clean and show light wear, cover is clean with minimal wear. There is a barcode sticker on the front cover partly obscuring the title.

vintage kids Mercer Mayer wordless picture book Frog on His Own, great illustrations, funny story of a mayhem causing frog
