vintage Bubble Lamp George Nelson Lantern Wall Sconce
Fabulous bubble lamp wall sconce! Absolute show stopper in person!
George Nelson created the "Bubble Lamp" line for Howard Miller in 1947. This lamp is NOT signed, and is most definitely older, but all of my research indicates this is very likely an early George Nelson Bubble lamp wall sconce.
The lamp/sconce is mounted to the wall at the wood section with a triangle cleat, (included) the metal arm swings 180 degrees. Metal arm appears to be brass, shows tarnish/wear. The weight is painted white, shows wear by way of some chipping of the paint, but is fully functional, allowing you to adjust the amount of "drop" the lantern has. Ivory / cream in color.
Pull chain, simple off and on.
Metal arm has tarnished/patina a bit, and wood shows a little age, but is intact, no cracks nor chips.
***********this was mounted on a 2x4 for photo purposes only*******
The lamp is fully functional and working.
Original wiring.
The lamp is in overall very good condition. There is an area that on 2 of the pleats there are small cracks in the lamp. One is half and inch, the other is less. It is not immediately visible, and difficult to photograph, however please refer to photo 5.
Lantern portion looks/feels like plastic. (Fiberglass) Has sheen to it.
Measurements:
Lantern is approx 14 in by 12 inches wide.
Arm extends approx 17 inches.
Wood is 4 by 5 1/2 inches.
I am happy to answer any questions you have regarding this lamp and it's condition.
