Wonders of wonders a complete Huichol male costume from Nayarit Mexico!
Fits a size 8-10 figure - originally a slender male costume but a woman can wear it too.
Waist is 29" (with tie closure) and totally hand-sewn.
Beautifully cross-stitched embroidered Huichol symbols of the 'guardian eagle' - the peyote flower star on the chest and various birds on the sleeves. Front and Back are identical with embroidery. Traditional intricate border patterns on bottoms of pants and tunic and over the sleeves.
Please ask for more pictures if interested. The tunic is open along the sides and under the sleeves in the traditional indigenous form. They saw Spanish shirts with long sleeves and this was their interpretation of the construction. But it's a very practical way to make a shirt! It's tied together with a red sash from Chiapas, which I'm including.
A complete costume from a special group from central coastal area of Mexico.
It's REAL and not something made for tourists. A few little food-stains which I will identify (also try and wash out before you get it.)
