Since 2008 I have been working my way through a 10,000lb mountain of used wool and cashmere sweaters, slowly but surely spinning my pile of straw into my blankets of gold.
From 1987 through May 2008 Crispina was a production company, employing 40 and supplying 350 stores with completely handmade home furnishings and clothing, constructed from used wool and cashmere sweaters in the northeastern corner of the good ‘ole USA.. I find myself near the bottom of the mountain – cutting the last of the beautifully spongy wool and cashmere felt carefully into ever shrinking components to make my work.
This blanket is a compilation hundreds of little rectangles, some larger 12x4in pieces and squares cut small to use every last inch of my beautiful dwindling wool and cashmere stock.
Edging is pure silk satin. Blanket can be hand washed with biodegradable soap and dried flat. An heirloom at 60 x 60 inches. Makes a wonderful addition to the back of your couch or dresses up the top of a double, queen or king sized bed.
