Antique French Jelly Jar for Jam or Conserves - Rare Tapered Shape - Pot de Confitures

These beautiful tapered jars are becoming as rare as hens' teeth even here in France. If I ever see one I have to snap it up immediately.

This is a nice, medium sized example, enough to hold a spray of flowers or some little bathroom soaps, some lavender or some glistening red jelly on your breakfast or dinner table. 3.25 inches high and very tapered, going from 2 inches in diameter at the base to 4.5 inches across the top.

These old jars are chunky and heavy and often feature little flaws in the glass which, of course, is even better. This one has one has just a couple of tiny bubbles in clear, sparkling glass and arch shaped faceted sides which look delightful when the light shines through. If you run your finger around just beneath the rim you can feel a small chip which is obviously very old as it has worn smooth and is barely visible (I had to look at it through a magnifier) but I mention it for accuracy.

Lovely, chunky and heavy for its size at 10.25 oz.

Thank you for looking.
