This bag is wet felted from Blue faced Leicester wool in natural white and oatmeal. I've added a fringe of Black Lincoln curly locks along the bottom of the flap, a handspun boucle yarn, wool nepps, linen fibre and tussah silk all add to the textural surface design.

My inspiration for this bag was a piece of driftwood collected on a family holiday.. the fibres give the texture of the lines in the wood and the barnacles became wool nepps.

Bag: 11" (28cm) wide bottom / 10" (25.5cm) deep not including straps
Strap drop: 17.5" (45cm) to top of bag
Total length of bag 27.5" (70cm) from top of strap to bottom of bag

The bag is fully lined with a lovely wool blend fabric, which is grey with tiny flecks of colour (yellow and blue). I have added a zip close pocket inside the bag. I used the same fabric to sew the handle and fastening loop. This grey fabric is a remnant that I have been saving after sewing 'Dark Ages' costumes for a local museum a few years back, it is very simple and perhaps slightly rough looking.. but there is such a cosy, comforting appeal to it.. it was just perfect for this bag.

I finished it off with a gorgeous handmade ceramic button made by Julia Smith Ceramics here on Etsy.. again, this is something I have been keeping for just the right project, and this is it.. the glaze colours remind me of the Atlantic.. and happy hours spent beach combing.

I have seemlessly wetfelted this unique bag (made it all in one piece, no sewing or knitting involved) from British Bluefaced Leicester wool fibre. Many of the inclusions used in the design are also British wool.. and the button was handmade in Scotland (keeping my airmiles down with this bag :)

Ideal for wearing across the body, or just over the shoulder.

This is a practical, useful piece of fibre art for you to take wherever you want. A very strong bag of useful size and comfortable to wear.. It is quirky and individual and will hopefully make its owner happy for many years! I know that I smile everytime I look at it .. This is a very tactile bag.

This bag took a lot of materials, and a long time to create - I could not be any happier with the finished result. The postage cost reflects the weight of the piece.

Easy to care for:
Care leafelt will be included, but heres the basics. Woolfelt rarely needs washing, it is nturally dirt and odour repellant - most often a quick shake and air out is all thats needed.
If you DO need to wash it; a simple handwash, rinse thoroughly, quick SPIN ONLY or press between 2 towels to remove excess water, reshape and dry naturally.
As with all wool felt do NOT use washing machine or tumble drier.

I now send all packages valued over £50 GBP via Airsure (where possible) - this service is faster, tracked, fully insured and has delivery confirmation. Airsure is not available for all parts of the world, if you are in one of the countries that I can not use Airsure for I will send via Recorded Delivery, which will also be insured and require a signature upon receipt. I do not profit from postage at all.
