The "Tree Finder" badge is just like it sounds- girls would learn to identify the various types of trees in their area. Since this was a New Jersey troop, it was probably oak, pine, maple, etc. (The Pine Barrons have LOTS of trees!!).
This badge came from a girl who was extremely serious about scouting. She reached her Curved Bar, which was the highest award possible at that time. She majored in the nature category of scouting, and earned a lot of badges that were geared towards the outdoors.
This particular badge came from the late 40's/ early 50's. The Tree Finder Badge was discontinued in the 1960's.
