Art Deco Pendant Shell Cameo Locket Gold on Sterling AMCO Signed Lady Profile c. 1930s Jewelry, offered by bohemiantrading

Beautiful Art Deco shell cameo locket pendant of a woman’s profile has delicate details. She has a low cut classical dress, with a flower placed in her bobbed hair. The locket has a twisted ribbon-like edging and deep frame to hold the carved cameo. On the reverse is a little door behind which you can secure a small oval photo (someone’s long ago sweetheart is there now). It is marked “1/20 10K ON STERLING AMCO.” The locket is secure and has a satisfying click when closing.

AMCO was a company located in Providence, RI. It started in business as A. Micallef and Co. in 1919, and continued until the late 1970’s. This piece dates to c. 1930 and is in fine condition. There is patina where the sterling “reads through” the gold fill (the face of the bale, for example). This is a testament to its 80+ years of age. I would leave this alone so as to preserve the remaining gold fill.

This item will be presented in a tarnish resistant pouch and gift boxed.

SIZE: 1-1/8H x 7/8”W. adding 3/8” for the bale = 1-1/2”H overall
