What a beautiful little antique Victorian mourning cross pendant. I believe the cross is made of black coal. When doing the scratch test on porcelain, it produces a black streak. If it were Whitby jet, the streak would be brown. It appears to be hand carved and not molded. In the center of the cross, there is an inlayed circle of pyrite druzy. It has so much sparkle! The cross has a carved leaf like design on each arm. Possibly, the leaves are supposed to represent olive branches. This beautiful cross dates to the 1880s.

1" by 1 3/4"

There are many tiny scratches on the cross and a few tiny flea flicks... I attribute this to age. The jump ring and bale have darkened with age.

Please keep in mind that colors will vary slightly on different computer monitors.
