This British roller lift arm pocket lighter is notably taller than most lift arm lighters (2-1/4"H) and is a really comfortable carry-around piece for everyday use. It functions similarly to the Parker Roller Beacon and Dunhill Rollalites. To light - lift up its arm to expose the wick and spin the elongated, side-mounted cylindrical roller clockwise with your thumb. This action turns the spark wheel against the flint, lighting its wick. Simply close the arm with your finger to extinguish the flame. The flint chamber is accessed by removing the spring loaded screw behind the spark wheel; fuel is added from the base. This lighter has no specific manufacturer's marking. Its base is only marked "Made In England, Reg'd Design" (see photo 3). I've found the "standard" size version of this lift arm listed in two different reference books. One dates this piece to 1935, the other to 1948. Not sure which is more accurate, but I presume this rarer tall version is from the same era.

This British roller looks to have been only lightly used and works perfectly. It will make a reliable, distinctive lighter for daily use. I've brushed the file wheel clean, trimmed/tested the original wick, repacked the full chamber, and cleaned char/soot from the arm and wick housing to ensure this rugged beauty is in excellent working condition. You'll notice this piece does have a few minor cosmetic "bumps and bruises". Nothing egregious, just a few obvious signs this British lift arm was previously used and is roughly seventy years old. It will be shipped with a new flint and without fluid. (If you plan to only display this lighter, please remove the flint so it does not deteriorate and become impacted over time.) I've provided high quality photos to offer the best preview of this lighter's condition. Please take a look and feel free to ask any questions.
