These super large giant oyster shells have been transformed into stunning decorative trays or very large trinket dishes to house large pieces of jewellery, watches or other special items.

Each of these mammoth oyster shells has been lovingly adorned and embellished in the Compton pattern, a beautiful floral and leaves Art Nouveau pattern designed by William Morris and here in a dark teal and blue colour way with red and cream flowers.

This gorgeous design is simply exquisite.

Each oyster shell trinket tray has been carefully hand painted with liquid gold leaf on the reverse and inner rim before being coated in a high gloss finish.

Unique and extravagant these XXL oyster shell dishes make for truly beautiful gifts whether as an unusual decorative tray or as shell ornaments, statement pieces or objects d’art in their own right.

Oyster shells of this size are uncommon so their availability is limited. Lengths and widths do vary from oyster to oyster, however in general these XXL oyster shells measures 14cm up to 18cm or more in length, or are extra wide at over 7cm in width.

I love finding use for items from nature within the home, and have also made this oyster shell jewellery dish decoupaged with a variety of patterned interiors, from the great Victorian designer, William Morris.

Directions for care:
Seashells are naturally delicate so please handle your trinket dish with care. Whilst the gold leafing has been sealed, our trinket dishes are not designed to be submerged in water for any period of time. However, should you need to, these trinket dishes may be gently rinsed under running water and either patted or left to air dry.

A note on creation:
Each shell trinket dish is individually hand crafted and is a one of a kind creation, not manufactured in a factory. As a result, each shell trinket dish will have subtle variations from one item to the next, which is caused by natural variations in the colour, shape and size of the oyster shells used, as well as a result of the hand gilding method.

Given the unique nature of the items being sold, the description, photos and measurements listed have been used to portray, in general, the items for sale. Lengths and widths do vary from oyster to oyster, however in general these XXL oyster shells measure over 14cm in length, up to 18cm and are extra wide around 8cm at their widest.

All shells used in our listed items are natural and have been sourced locally from within the UK, many from within the Home Counties. Our spiny cockle shells have been collected from Kent beaches whilst our Oyster shells come largely from Essex and Suffolk. Shells are uniquely formed by nature so every one varies.

The way a shell rests on a surface can also vary, dependent upon the natural form of the shell. However, if more specific information is required on individual pieces for sale or you have any questions, please do get in touch or leave a message at checkout.

A Note on Dispatch & Delivery:
Once your item has been dispatched I pass over the delivery of your items to the lovely people at Royal Mail. (Thank you!)

UK:
Standard delivery is sent via Second Class post, which Royal Mail advise generally takes 2-3 working days after dispatch to arrive.

For quicker delivery, you can select First Class as an option, which Royal Mail state they aim to deliver the next day after posting.

Overseas:
Packages are sent via Royal Mail International Standard (Airmail), with the postal system advising items take the following number of working days after dispatch to arrive:

-Europe 3-5 working days
-USA 6-7 working days
-Australia & NZ 6-7 working days

However, please allow a few more days for items to arrive given international delays due to the current pandemic.

Waiting for delivery:
Occasionally there are delays in the postal system that are unfortunately beyond my control, such as when there is bad weather, busy periods or other events that impact Royal Mail’s expected transit times and that of their overseas counterparts (Christmas, Covid..).

If you have any concerns over when you might receive something by, please do drop me a message before buying and I’ll do my best to help if I can. It may be that I’m able to send out an item that same day or I can find out how much it might be to send via Special Delivery or a Courier to you.
