One section is a short description of the Saori philosophy.

"I have a lot of trouble with newly printed books, from the ink and glue smells. Sometimes I have to set books on the back porch for weeks before I can read them without getting a headache. Not only is this book - and hopefully the others - printed in Japan, (not China!), I could page through it immediately! I can’t remember the last time that happened, and we have a fairly heavy new book habit here. The binding is the first in a long time that I was able to successfully use my mother-the-librarian’s technique of gently conditioning the pages before reading, without cracking the spine….so long that I had forgotten that I used to do that with every single new book.
Totally worth the purchase price just for the amazingly scented bay leaves ( jill includes). They are out-pacing my fresh picked gardenias on the table here!" S

I am excited to study and explore the philosophy and techniques of this practice.
I lived in Japan for 3 years and my heart is still there ! When I lived there I was looking into traditional weaving instruction but I wasn’t able to pursue that dream .
A few years later I studied Navajo Weaving in Taos , New Mexico with a Navajo artisan.
I think the Saori way is the missing link to how I want to be.
The book you sent so artfully will start me on the path .
